Last week we lost our precious 18 year old chihuahua, Oscar - I promise I will tell you more about him in an upcoming post, along with introducing you to each of these guys and some of our past friends, too. Look for some special guest doggie bloggers, too - Max, Raspa, Bartlet, Gumbo - this means you!
I will close with some pics of our most recent additions. In our grief over the loss of our dog, we succombed to a chicken purchase. Not that this was a really bad or entirely unexpected purchase; we had a new hen house built and ready, and were prepared to purchase when we found what we wanted. And find it we did - we now own 6 barred rock pullets (young hens) and a gorgeous blue Ameraucana cockerel (young rooster).
We haven't named them yet, so watch this site to vote on rooster names soon!
Until next time - go hug your pet!
I have a pet Crested Polish hen. She sits on my shoulder like a parrot. We get a lot of comments when we go to PetsMart, everyone is trying to figure out what kind of bird she is.
ReplyDeleteI love Polish Crested - such sweet birds! What color is your hen?
ReplyDeleteWe also have a Mad House! But, I think you out number me on the animals. We have 2 mini donkeys, a duck, turtle, 2 cats, 2 dogs and now 4 puppies. I don't think I know your husband, but I work in Research at UT M D Anderson. We employ 4 animal techs in our area. But, you said he is at the Med School, right? So, I don't believe I would know him. Do you stay at home and care for the animals or do you work outside the home?
ReplyDeleteRobin, I think pound-for-pound you might win! Mini-donkeys are adorable! My husband (JC) works for CLAMC at UT; he's the "fish guy". He takes care of the zebra fish systems. If you have met him,, you'd know it - I think he is the only big blond bearded dreadlocked Viking on staff! I teach middle school technology literacy and high school computer science. With two full time jobs and a menagerie, we have pretty much given up on a social life.
ReplyDeleteOur rooster's name is Inca - thanks to everyone who voted!
